Resume writing tips

Hi guys, I hope you are in good spirit 🙂 Today I’d like to talk about resume; of course it’s a massive topic and it’s not possible to cover everything in a post. I’ll try to give you useful information as much as I can; if you are coming here to get employ the very first thing which you probably do, you would start sending your resume but before just invest a little bit of time maybe a lot of time towards developing your resume and polishing it up.

Building a resume is really not as complicated as it seems; I share 5 tips on how to create your resume. Keep in mind that on average recruiters and hiring managers tend to spend less than 10 seconds reviewing a resume so your resume need to be eye catching, clear and easy to read.

  1. Select the resume format which represent you the most. Please choose a font which is easy to read like Calibri or Garamond and make sure you don’t have any grammar mistakes or confusing information.
  2. Try to keep your resume maximum in 2 pages. Most of HR manager ignore resumes more than 2 pages unless you list publications or research, … My suggestion is if you are entry level keep your resume in 1 page and if you are experienced person so you would have 2 pages resume.
  3. Mention your accomplishment. It doesn’t mean to explain your work experience; you can think about all the praises you’ve received or special responsibilities, … like you increased sales by 30%
  4. Include a career summary in the fist paragraph of your resume to grab HR manager’s attention right from the beginning.
  5. Adjust your resume to each new job. Most of the large companies use applicant tracking system so the keywords in your resume are really important. What you can do is grab the keywords from the job description and put them in your resume.
