Start your own Business – Photographer

Hi guys, how are you doing? Welcome to my blog and thanks for reading my post about the Photography business. Today, I want to write about the photography business and how you can run it and is it a good choice for you? it may seem overwhelming to get started and you might think that you don’t have the funds to invest in yourself to start your photography business but honestly it’s really not that expensive. You know there are different kinds of photography that I’d like to share with you:

  • Portrait Photography like senior portraits, family portraits, engagement photos, and professional headshots
  • Photojournalism like capturing unplanned, unscripted moments for magazines and newspaper
  • Fashion Photography from fashion shows to studios with full lighting setups to city streets and open fields
  • Sports Photography catching athletes, coaches, and even fans at the perfect moment
  • Still Life Photography like artistic or commercial photography, most common is for product advertising
  • Editorial Photography illustrate a story or article, typically for a magazine or newspaper
  • Architectural Photography like interior and exterior design of buildings and structures

Let’s talk about the essential things to start

  1. Camera: That is obvious that you need a camera but it’s a little bit confusing to choose a good one at a reasonable price. My camera is Canon 80D and I’m satisfied with that considering I’m doing videography and photography for my projects and it works for them; also, it has other features like shoot video with smooth, fast, and accurate autofocus, and stills with instant and precise autofocus and one more thing is Built-In Wi-Fi allows you to wirelessly transfer images and movies to compatible devices or share on social networking sites but if you just need a camera at the lower price my suggestion is Nikon D3500 and it has features like Compact, lightweight and very easy to use, regardless of skill level and video capture resolution:2K DCI 1080p; also, 24.2-Megapixel DX-format CMOS Image Sensor with No optical low-pass filter for breathtaking image Quality

2. Softwares like Adobe Lightroom & Photoshop: You need software to edit your photos and Adobe has a great photography plan which gives you Lightroom Classic, Lightroom CC, and Photoshop for only 12.99 per month. You can get the advantage of a monthly subscription and use Lightroom Classic on your computer or use Lightroom CC on your iPad and these are for editing your photo like changing lights, … to prepare for print but with Photoshop you can edit your photo like add or remove something

3. Website: This is the most important part cause you can show your projects that you’ve done for your clients and it’s an easy way to get connected with your clients. How you can have a website? 1. You can create your website by yourself using Wix or Squarespace 2. Hire a web developer to that for you. For the website, you need to have hosting and domain as well and I recommend Bluehost and Hostpapa.

4. Now, we need to print the photos, I’d recommend BannerBuzz and Posterjack cause the quality is literally important in this business and these guys are professional. You can open an account with them so it’ll worth paying once a year.

5. Business card: Absolutely you need a business card to present your business and one of the best places that I can recommend you is BannerBuzz(10% Off Your Entire First Order at BannerBuzz.ca! Use Code: BBFIRST)

You can do your design online or hire an expert to design a professional business card.

So these are the basic things that you need to start your photography business and all in all it costs less than $2000 so go ahead and get what you need to start and don’t forget in this way you’ll have your own time, running your own business and having more freedom like traveling, …

I hope I could help you out to make a decision about your business and please don’t feel discouraged and do what you think you can do! Please leave me a comment and let me know if you want to start your own business or you have more information about the things that I shared 🙂
