Checklist for starting your business

Hi, Welcome to my blog 🙂 Today, I wanna write about essential things you need to do before launching your business!

  1. Create a business plan; you can do it online on LawDepot, Venngage, FormSwift
  2. Choose and register a business name here
  3. Figure out legal structure like sole proprietorship, corporation
  4. Get your business number(BN) which is a 9 digit number and register for CRA program accounts which are 2 letters and 4 digits attached to a business number; you can find more info here
  5. Register a domain name; I’ll recommend Hostpapa
  6. Purchase a hosting plan which is compatible with WordPress here
  7. Design a logo; you can do it by yourself online on Logo Garden, Envato Placeit or hire a designer
  8. Set up a website and my recommendation is YAS Media
  9. Set up social media profile like Linkedin, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and you can reserve your brand as a profile name with Knowem.com
  10. That would be good if register for Shutterstock to get high-quality pictures and use them for the website or your social profile’s posts
  11. Rent office space but if you can do your business without renting a place it’s better to avoid increasing your expenses
  12. Order business cards considering it’s a proper way to present your business and do networking; BannerBuzz is recommended
  13. Open a business bank account; it helps you to track everything better and keep separate from your personal account
  14. Look for free advice to grow your business; you can find much free advice on bdc.ca , CFIB, Startupcan, Quickbooks if you need to chat with a lawyer then follow this link
  15. Lawyer/Accountant; a business lawyer educates clients on applicable laws and best practices, and represents them when an issue arises. An accountant can help you by determining the best business structure and assisting with the financial analysis and providing advice on how to track your expenses, Compiling and submitting your taxes, financial reports
